Dr. Eckhard Koch
Managing Director of MediaSec Technologies GmbH

Dr. Eckhard Koch is founder and General Manager of MediaSec Technologies GmbH. He is also a co-inventor of the core technology - the digital watermark. He has been the chief executive of MediaSec Technologies GmbH in Essen since 2000 and concentrates on the strategic positioning of the company on the international market.

Before founding MediaSec, Dr. Koch managed the headquarters of Secunet Security AG, a leading European IT-security consulting company. Prior to Secunet, he was Director of Product Development with Brokat AG in Stuttgart, where he was responsible for the complete product development of secure online-transaction and payment-systems.

Dr. Koch began his career as head of the department for "Security Technology for Graphic- and Communication Systems" at the Fraunhofer Institute for computer graphics (Fraunhofer IGD) in Darmstadt. He was in charge of diverse major projects in IT security on a national and European level.

Dr. Koch studied physics at Phillipps University in Marburg and his doctorate was sponsored through a project with the Siemens Coorporate Research & Development department.

Dr. Jian Zhao
CTO

Dr. Jian Zhao is co-founder of MediaSec Technologies and serves as President and CTO of MediaSec Technologies in Providence, USA. He is a co-inventor of the core technology - the digital watermark and continues to drive the customer-oriented development of the technology.

Dr. Zhao was director for Digital Security Technology and a senior scientist with the Fraunhofer Center for Research in Computer Graphics , Inc. in Providence , Rhode Island. His work focused on scientific research in digital image processing and IT- Security.

Prior to joining Fraunhofer CRRG he held research, system analysis and design, software development and project management positions at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics and the German National Research Center for Information Technology in Darmstadt, Germany.
Dr. Zhao also gained experience as project- manager for the Forschungsinstitut Informationstechnik GmbH (GMD).

He holds a doctorate in computer science from the Technical University Darmstadt, Germany, a M.Sc. in computer science from the East China Normal University, Shanghai, China, and a B.Sc. in computer science from Hefei University of Technology, Hefei, China.
