| PROVIDENCE,
Rhode Island - MediaSec Technologies today announced that the
United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued and published
patent number 6,243,480 for MediaSec's watermark-based MediaSign®
technology.
This patent includes 51 claims covering the digital authentication
with analog documents that is central to the Company's MediaSign
products. It describes a fundamental approach to applying digital
watermark or barcode for authenticating any document, no matter
whether the document is represented in the digital or analog form.
Based on the issued patent, MediaSign embeds a secure hash value
of document's semantic or significant information into the document
as a digital watermark. This authentication watermark is perceptually
invisible and does not alter the meaning of the signed document.
Moreover, it is present in the prints of the signed document and
therefore can be verified by converting the prints to the digital
form. MediaSign takes full advantage of digital watermark's presence
in the analog forms of a watermarked document, and bridges the gap
between digital and paper authentication.
